bikini

bikini bikini

For every project that I successfully complete, there is usually a dud. And that dud is often comedy gold. This is one of those comedic jackpots. It's a bikini that I knitted.

Uh huh. A knitted bikini. When I finished knitting it I was so impressed with myself. I mean, just look at all that shaping! Sadly, as soon as I actually tried it on I was less impressed. It is hilarious, so hilarious that there's no way I was going to put it on for a photo. Let's just say that the bottoms look like a diaper. The top's alright, but hardly water appropriate.

If you have any crafty disasters that you'd like to share/get off your chest, please let me know! I'm dying to hear...

  1. oh no, and you've done such a beautiful job of knitting it! it is hard to imagine the bottoms staying put once they are waterlogged, now that would be embarrassing!
i made some mittens for my daughter a couple of weeks ago. super simple pattern, old wool blanket stitch the edge and turn inside out. i made 4 pairs and they were all wonky as hell. i just gave up in fustration. i still feel all 'arggggh' about it x

  2. It's always such a disappointment when you work on something for a long time only to discover it's a flop. But yeah that bikini is really cute looking like that.
At least now you can say you'ved knitted a bikini. Not everybody can. :)

  8. Ha ha! You tried. It looks cute in the photo. Maybe you should frame it and hang it on a wall as art. Of course, the diaper look could be in vogue in a few years, ... you never know... lol!!! ;)

  12. how did you even get the idea to knit a bikini? that is quite an undertaking and i think that the shape of it came out pretty good. i knitted a scarf once for my dog. i was 8. i haven't knit anything ever since, even though the scarf came out great :)

  15. Oooops! It looks good in the photos though, maybe it can make a great piece of decoration. I always love all the laundry hanging up when you go to southern European countries, maybe you can put this one up somewhere just for fun.
Such a bummer, it deosn't look good on.
