heat wave
Saturday, December 1, 2012
We're in the middle of our first heat wave of the summer, and I'm not coping. I'm grumpy and lethargic, and all I want to do is lie under the air conditioner eating popsicles. Other attempts at cooling off include: closing all skylights and blinds so no sunlight gets in, eating watermelon, swimming, drinking ice water, and letting the whirring of the fans lull me to sleep.
Here's hoping the cool change arrives tonight!

I was heavily pregnant during an awful hot February a couple of years ago. The best thing for me - sitting inside with all the curtains drawn and my feet in a bucket of ice cold water. Ahhhh...
ReplyDeleteI am so not a hot weather person either! Cohen was a December baby and I felt like I was wearing a permanent hot water bottle the whole time. Fingers crossed for a cool change indeed. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, how I miss summer... Eating watermelons and popsicles, painting my toes red - ah! Can't wait! But unfortunately, here in Germany we're right in the middle of Winter - and this morning we woke up to everything being freezing cold and white outside. Ugh!
ReplyDeleteEither way, I hope it doesn't get worse for you. I guess this year nobody won't say a word when you prefer to be lazy on these days, not? ;-)
Happy weekend. xo
Oh yes! Heat waves are not too funny when pregnant! Haha! Stay cool, love the red toes

ReplyDeletesuch amazing photos:)
ReplyDeleteThat watermelon looks so great right now... Trade you weather for a day? ;) xo
ReplyDeleteI'd rather have your heat wave than the UK's inconsistent weather patterns :( I hate winter weather.
ReplyDeleteTemperatures are high over here as well... And, I'm glad it's been raining every other day to cool it off a bit.
ReplyDeleteHope you get a nice breeze soon!

you should invest in a baby pool early and pop it in your yard/on your balcony. Fill it with cold water and sit on a chair with your feet in it while you read :)
ReplyDeleteMum did this when she was pregnant with my little brother over summer, she loved it!!

ReplyDeleteIt is terribly hot. And I'm suffering from a really bad cold which makes it ten times worse. I hope you are coping.
ReplyDeleteChanced upon your blog and enjoy reading it!
ReplyDeleteI love your hat! Hope it cools off soon!
ReplyDeleteWow! Look at your photography!!! Great photos. Hope you survived the heatwave well. As you might guess, I don't mind the heat at all, feeling pretty comfortable and am excited about swimming in the cold water.
ReplyDeleteHello Gaby! I wanted to stop by and say thank you for checking out my blog, and for leaving me a little bit of love; I so appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteYou have a positively gorgeous space here -- serene.
What language(s) do you translate? Before our daughter came along, I did some translating for the non-profit organization I worked for; I always find it fascinating to talk to others who've done this type of work, and in what areas they most use it.
