red & green

Monday, December 3, 2012

I just realized while putting together photos for this post, that I unwittingly spent the weekend taking photos of red and green, wherever I found it. Must be my attempt at feeling festive during an Australian December.

This weekend we stayed close to home, only leaving to go for swims. During one of those outings, husband's mum gave us this awesome advent calender. It really is the only sign of Christmas in our home, though I'm hoping to either put up some branches with decorations like this OR this fabric from Ikea. How are you celebrating the arrival of December?

  1. Well, at least you have something Xmasy around the house. Nothing in mine so far, ´cause in my country we put up the Xmas stuff on dec 8th but last year it was a day before Xmas eve and nothing was on in my house!!! :) We´ll see what happens this year! Take care, Gaby!

  2. LOVE, that advent calender so cute!! And these snaps are lovely Gaby - how fun that you've been seeking out red & green. We haven't gotten into the spirit too much yet. Martin's been working like crazy for the last two weeks, boo, we've barely seen each other. But when it's over, we'll be going all out for sure!! Yay Christmas! xo

  4. I am spending the start of December trying to keep my hair under control in this humidity ;) D and I are still trying to figure out what to do, Christmas-decoration-wise ... I am spending lot so time on Pinterest for inspiration and we will probably be making a trip to Ikea soon to check out all their Christmas-sy things. Your photos are lovely as always :)

  5. Beautiful advent calendar :)
We have a mini tree that goes up each year with a little tinsel. Not much room for decorations in the flat :)

  9. Love that image of the bundles of greens. I clicked the Ikea link and was so confused, I thought 'ikea has Christmas trees?'... then I realized it was fabric!'. Very cool :)

  11. Oh I LOVE the branches idea! Seems like a fun walk outside would be perfect for gathering enough branches to decorate. LOVE all the red and green photos. So cute of you!

  12. I love your advent calendar - it's simple and classic and stylish too. What a nice mum in law!

Here, we have hung our calendar and got out a few fairy lights. Staying warm and writing Christmas cards will be the main activities this week I think. x
