whistler getaway

Friday, September 20, 2013

For our last hurrah in BC, we went to Whistler for 2 nights. Just the three of us. We stayed at a cozy hotel in the village, and got outside as much as we could. My husband spent a day mountain biking while Clementine and I walked through the village, followed by sunny deck time. We also strolled around Lost Lake while Clementine napped in the Ergo, and on our last day we took the gondola to the top of Whistler mountain. Clementine woke up as soon as we reached the top, so I nursed her in the most amazing spot overlooking the snowy peaks. Afterward we wandered some more and enjoyed a mountaintop lunch before coming back down.

It was so beautiful at this time of year that we couldn't help but dream of moving there. Even in summer, or late summer as it were, the air is so crisp and clean feeling. The lakes are stunning (and cold!) and the mountains just take your breath away. Oh yes, I can definitely see as living there for a season.

p.s. sorry for the photo overload, I couldn't cull.

    e) What camera are you using? I got a Panasonic GF3 for my birthday. No one sells the GF1 anymore! But I'm not allowed to touch it till my actual birthday - husband's rules!

  6. There is nothing like mountain air!

I've yet to visit Whistler as we're always so busy in Vancouver but we've been all around the Rockies on the other side. I think I took it for-granted before but now that we've been living abroad, I have a renewed sense of gratitude for growing up and experiencing such a beautiful country as Canada!

  14. I never make comments on here or any other blog, but I had to tell you that I am so so grateful for your nursing photos. As a nursing mom, and one who promotes breastfeeding, putting these out there for the world to see are empowering and spread goodness worldwide. It is SO IMPORTANT! Thanks, what a great mama-blogger you are!

  16. What a beautiful spot, Gaby. And sounds like all 3 of you are having a lovely time. You look so radiant and happy!

Is it hard travelling with the little one? I would love to bring Alexander on little trips when he is a bit older.

  19. I knew I recognised that view in the first photo! I spent some time in Vancouver this summer (including a night in Whistler and a day swimming in Lost Lake)…it is so beautiful, definitely a very difficult place to leave. I already cannot wait to go back and my boyfriend dreams of living there some day soon. xo
