VANCOUVER!

Wednesday, May 2, 2012

all photos from my last trip to vancouver, in 2009

Today I am bouncing off the walls excited because I just booked a flight to Vancouver!

It was a very spur of the moment decision; I made up my mind to go yesterday, went straight to the travel agent and confirmed it all this morning. I leave in a week.

I haven't been home in nearly 2 and a half years, and with everything that has happened this year, well, I am homesick. So homesick. I can't even describe how much I am looking forward to seeing my family, my friends, my dog, my city, the mountains, the oh so cold ocean and all my old haunts. And I'm so grateful to my mom for making this all happen.

NEW ZEALAND LIKE LORD OF THE RINGS

After a wonderful two weeks touring the South Island of New Zealand, I arrived back in sunny Sydney where it's expected to reach 39 degrees today!! It's straight back into the real world for me; this morning I woke up at 5:30 am to teach a class. For the next few days I'm teaching like a madwoman, but I'm hoping to start blogging about our holiday and my birthday/christmas soon.

In the meantime, how were all of your holidays? Anything exciting happen?

I have two bits of news this morning:

1. I'm back from Bali! Slightly jet-lagged and confused, but home.

2. I'm on twitter. Weird. Find me here, and please say hi! I'm still trying to figure out how this thing works.

On craft fairs and secret dreams

Friday, February 18, 2011

For the last little while I've been dropping hints (here, here and here) about a project that I've been working on. And now that I have photos, I'm excited to finally be able to share just what that project is. When I wrote about doing yoga teacher training this year, I said that it had long been a secret dream of mine to become a yoga teacher. Well, another secret dream of mine is to open an etsy shop and participate in craft fairs. And guess what? I'm doing my first craft fair ever next Saturday! I'll be selling my handmade fascinators and hair accessories Saturday February 26 at the Kinokuniya craft fair here in Sydney. If you're free, and you live in Sydney, come on down. I'd love to see you! I'm also hoping to open an etsy shop asap, and tick off another goal. I'm telling you, 2011, it's the year of secret dreams.

Last weekend I got together with my mother in law, Julia, and two of my gorgeous friends, Alexandra and Kathryn, to take some photos of my wares. Julia was the brilliant photographer, and Alexandra, Kathryn and I modeled. I'm so pleased with how all of the photos turned out, and grateful to everyone for helping me. Take a peak...

It's official

yoga books
some of my yoga "textbooks"

It's official, come March I will be starting yoga teacher training at the studio where I have been practicing since I moved to Sydney. Becoming a yoga teacher has long been a secret dream of mine, but I always convinced myself that I wasn't good enough, I wasn't ready etc. etc. And then over the last couple of weeks all of the pieces have fallen into place to give me this amazing opportunity. Yesterday I went to the studio to pick up my books, and I felt this surge of giddiness like this is real, and it's actually happening. As always, I am so grateful for my husband without whom I probably would not be able to do this. He makes my crackpot schemes possible and I love him for it. This year feels really big for me; I'm making lots of changes and while it's scary, it's also super exciting. Any words of wisdom for me as I get ready to begin this journey? I'd especially love to hear from any yoga teachers!
